Axel Alvarez

Axel Alvarez is a French performer recognized for his versatility, excelling in classical ballet, musical theatre, acting, and screen performance.

After training at the Paris Opera Ballet School and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, he graduated from the prestigious Royal Ballet School in London before beginning his professional career with the Paris Opera Ballet. He later performed with several internationally renowned companies, including the English National Ballet, the Rome Opera, and the Bordeaux National Opera.

Driven by a desire to broaden his artistic horizons, Axel transitioned into musical theatre. He performed the iconic role of Mr. Mistoffelees in CATS, first in the French production before being personally selected by Chrissie Cartwright, Associate Director and Choreographer, to reprise the role for the International Tour, followed by productions in Chinaand Australia. Working within the artistic legacy of Gillian Lynne, and having the opportunity to meet Andrew Lloyd Webber and Trevor Nunn, became one of the defining experiences of his career.

He later joined several major musical productions, including The Producers, directed by Alexis Michalik, where he worked as a Swing, mastering and performing five different roles throughout the production. He then joined La Cage aux Folles as both a performer and Dance Captain, collaborating closely with director Olivier Py and choreographers Ivo Bauchiero and Aurélien Lehmann. This position allowed him to contribute to maintaining and transmitting the artistic excellence of a production that received the 2026 Molière Award for Best Musical.

Alongside his stage career, Axel expanded into screen acting with ÉTOILE, an Amazon MGM Studios series created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino. He also collaborated with acclaimed Hollywood choreographer Marguerite Derricks, an experience that profoundly enriched his approach to on-camera performance and reinforced his ambition to build an international career in film and television.

Beyond his work as a performer, Axel is also the creator and lead performer of his original one-man show, ARTISTE?, a deeply personal production combining theatre, singing, dance, and tap. Inspired by his own journey as a dyslexic child who became a professional artist, the show celebrates resilience, individuality, and the transformative power of the arts.

Today, Axel Alvarez continues to pursue an international career with the ambition of building bridges between ballet, musical theatre, theatre, and screen acting. Guided by the belief that sensitivity is a strength, he places artistic excellence, storytelling, and human connection at the heart of every project he undertakes.

Après avoir été formé à l’École de Danse de l’Opéra de Paris et au Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, il est diplômé de la prestigieuse Royal Ballet School de Londres, avant de débuter sa carrière au sein du Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris. Il poursuit ensuite son parcours au sein de compagnies de renommée internationale, notamment l’English National Ballet, l’Opéra de Rome et l’Opéra National de Bordeaux.

Animé par le désir d’élargir son univers artistique, il se tourne ensuite vers la comédie musicale. Il interprète Mr. Mistoffelees dans CATS, rôle qu’il reprend en France avant d’être personnellement choisi par Chrissie Cartwright, Associate Director and Choreographer, pour poursuivre l’aventure lors de la tournée internationale, puis en Chine et en Australie. Cette expérience, menée sous l’héritage artistique de Gillian Lynne, avec la rencontre d’Andrew Lloyd Webber et de Trevor Nunn, constitue l’un des tournants majeurs de sa carrière.

Il rejoint ensuite plusieurs productions d’envergure, notamment Les Producteurs, mis en scène par Alexis Michalik, où il occupe le poste de Swing et interprète cinq rôles différents tout au long de l’exploitation du spectacle. Il poursuit avec La Cage aux Folles, où il est à la fois interprète et Dance Captain. Cette responsabilité lui permet de collaborer étroitement avec Olivier Py, ainsi qu’avec les chorégraphes Ivo Bauchiero et Aurélien Lehmann, participant activement à la transmission et au maintien de l’excellence artistique d’une production récompensée par le Molière du Meilleur Spectacle Musical 2026.

Parallèlement à sa carrière sur scène, Axel développe son travail de comédien en rejoignant la série ÉTOILE, produite par Amazon MGM Studios et créée par Amy Sherman-Palladino et Daniel Palladino. Il y collabore également avec la chorégraphe hollywoodienne Marguerite Derricks, une expérience qui enrichit profondément son approche du jeu face caméra et renforce son ambition de développer une carrière internationale à l’écran.

Au-delà de son parcours d’interprète, Axel est également l’auteur et l’interprète de son seul-en-scène ARTISTE ?, une œuvre autobiographique mêlant théâtre, chant, danse et claquettes. Inspiré de son histoire personnelle, ce spectacle raconte le parcours d’un enfant dyslexique devenu artiste professionnel et célèbre la résilience, la différence et le pouvoir transformateur de l’art.

Aujourd’hui, Axel Alvarez poursuit une carrière internationale avec une même ambition : créer des passerelles entre la danse, le théâtre, la comédie musicale et le cinéma. Convaincu que la sensibilité est une force, il place l’exigence artistique, la transmission et l’émotion au cœur de chacun de ses projets.
